Air Force Identifies Mishap Victim

SSgt. Jordan Lewis, a CV-22 flight engineer with the 20th Special Operations Squadron at Cannon AFB, N.M., is the airman who died as the result of a training accident earlier this week at Melrose Air Force Range, announced base officials. The Air Force released his identity on Thursday after notifying his kin. Lewis died due to head trauma he suffered when the utility task vehicle he was in rolled during routine training on the range, which is west of Cannon, on May 11. He succumbed to his injuries on May 12 at Texas Tech University Medical Center in Lubbock after he was airlifted there in critical condition, according to the base’s release. The other airman in the vehicle was injured and taken by ground ambulance on May 11 to a local hospital. He was released later that same day. The accident’s cause is under investigation.
