Riding With the Prez: For some airmen at Travis AFB, Calif., being members of the base’s mountain bike club brought an unexpected dividend—cycling with the President. The White House asked for four riders from the Travis Hawks to join President Bush on a bike ride through the Napa Valley. Capt. James Weinstein, founder of the club, said the White House staffer asked him to select “advanced” riders since the President is “aggressive biker.”
The Senate confirmed new leaders of U.S. forces in Europe and the Middle East over the weekend. Lawmakers on June 29 also approved a reshuffling of Air Force officials that will put new faces in the service’s Pentagon headquarters as well as at its largest command.
