T
he US military has opened a new hospital at Bagram AB, Afghanistan, naming it the Craig Joint Theater Hospital after fallen Army medic SSgt. Heathe Craig, who was killed last year. Air Force Col. Bart Iddins, commander of Task Force Medical, said the new state-of-the-art facility “rivals any stateside hospital of equivalent size.” It has about 50 beds, including a four-bed trauma bay, three operating rooms, and modern dental clinic. Air Force journalist SSgt. Thomas Doscher also reports that the new facility is cleaner and more sterile.
The Air Force has finished modifying and testing the new VC-25B Bridge aircraft that will serve as a temporary Air Force One, the service announced May 1. All that’s left now is to finish painting the jet before it starts flying this summer.
