Calibrating measuring devices in a lab may not sound exciting, but when you’re talking about ensuring hospital equipment, test equipment, and aircraft instrument test sets function properly, it’s an indispensable part of forward operations. Which is why the precision measurement equipment laboratory’s claim of being the only 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron workgroup that serves the entire AOR in Southwest Asia carries weight. The team, which covers 201 work centers within eight countries, has seen its monthly workload increase within the past six months by 1,200 items.
While the Space Force is still making long-term plans to establish high-fidelity live and virtual test and training ranges in the coming years, officials say they're also working with operators to identify near-term gaps and quickly field capabilities to address them.
