Two LC-130 tactical airlifters from the New York Air National Guard’s 109th Airlift Wing have flown to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, to support Operation Deep Freeze, reports TSgt. Chris Vadnais. The ski-equipped aircraft are engaged in their annual mission of distributing to remote research posts the cargo delivered earlier to McMurdo by the larger C-17 airlifters.
Officials at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla., said the range is “fully mission capable” to support launches following a major May 28 mishap involving Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket.
