Air Force Space Command airmen launched an unarmed Minuteman III ICBM from Vandenberg AFB, Calif., yesterday, to test its operational effectiveness. Its three unarmed re-entry vehicle impacted targets on the Kwajalein Missile Range in the Pacific after traveling 4,800 miles. The ICBM came from the 90th Space Wing, F.E. Warren AFB, Wyo.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
