The new F-22 Maintenance Training Facility at Sheppard AFB, Tex. is now officially open, reports the Times Record News. As we reported earlier, the new facility will take its first trainee beginning in January. The state-of-the-art center includes F-22 cockpit and forward fuselage and seat and canopy maintenance training simulators designed by the DME Corp.
The $4.26 billion Small Business Innovation Research contracting program widely used by the Air Force went into hibernation as the government shut down Oct. 1, but unless lawmakers strike a deal on reforms, the program could reach an abrupt end.
