Mini Sats Blast Off: A pair of mini-satellites that will test military and intelligence technology in orbit blasted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Wednesday night aboard a Boeing Delta II rocket. Boeing officials say the booster launched the Micro-Satellite Technology Experiment—a collaboration by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Air Force, and the Navy. The team plans to use MiTEx to evaluate small sat technologies.
The Space Force is playing midwife to a new ecosystem of commercial satellite constellations providing alternatives to the service’s own Global Positioning Service from much closer to the Earth, making their signals more accurate and harder to jam.
