Hunter and Skelton announced leaders of the panel that will conduct the first phase of the House Armed Services Committee’s QDR-like review. Running the “Threat Panel” will be Rep. Ellen Tauscher (D-Calif.) and Rep. Michael Turner (R-Ohio). The panel will focus on emerging threats to US national security, according to a committee statement.
The final version of the fiscal 2026 defense policy bill calls for adding $1.2 billion to the Space Force’s research and development accounts, an increase that’s mostly split between two efforts: expanding the service’s low-Earth orbit data transport network and boosting its space-based missile warning and tracking capabilities.
