More than 760 civil service employees at Hill AFB, Utah, applied for voluntary termination on the first day of a new voluntary early retirement and early separation incentive program, reports the Hilltop Times. They hope to take advantage of a cash bonus of up to $25,000. The incentive program runs through Aug. 16. Base officials maintain the high number is “no surprise.”
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
