The Air National Guard’s recruiting numbers slipped in April, when ANG reached only 92 percent of its goal, according to the Pentagon. This is disappointing after it appeared the Air Guard had turned a recruiting corner in March, posting 100 percent. Still, ANG retention continues to run high, keeping end strength for April at 99 percent and 102 percent for the year to date. Both the active Air Force and Air Force Reserve Command fared well in April recruiting, reaching 101 percent and 100 percent respectively. Both continue to show strong retention, as well.
Active-duty transgender troops have until June 6 to self-identify and begin the voluntary separation process or wait and risk possible involuntary separation later—even as questions linger over how that decision might affect their security clearances for future employment.
