A new Air Force employee failed to notify DOD about the service’s contract awards for the month of December. (If only we could have a do-over day, now and then.) DOD posts high-value contract announcements on its Web site each day, as a public notification tool. On Monday, the DOD contracts carried the entire list of USAF’s December contracts—numbering 57 and amounting to about $4 billion. Some of the winning contractors, of course, already had made public announcements at the time they received the contracts. (The list is included in this Pentagon news release.)
In order to deny China “sanctuaries” from which it can launch air and missile salvos during a potential invasion of Taiwan, the U.S. Air Force needs to buy far more B-21 bombers and F-47 fighters than currently planned, according to a new report from AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.
