Changing World Begets a New USAF Mission Statement:
Air Force leaders have revamped the service’s mission statement (we reported they would). Gen. Michael Moseley, Air Force Chief of Staff, and Michael Wynne, Air Force Secretary, co-signed a letter, stating that “now more than ever we need [the mission] to be clear and precise.” The new statement says USAF must “deliver sovereign options … to fly and fight in Air, Space, and Cyberspace.”
The Air Force is planning to spend $2.19 billion over the next five years to acquire new C-37 jets for transporting military and civilian leaders. That’s on top of another $1.17 billion in projected funding for the VC-25B “Air Force One” replacement.
