The Air Force plans to unveil a new mission statement within the next two weeks. The new statement is still under wraps, but we are told it includes a phrase being used lately by new Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne: “deliver sovereign options for the defense of the United States in air, space, and cyberspace.” Sources tell us that the new mission statement is two-pronged: emphasizing unique USAF capabilities and a commitment to joint action.
Companies planning to compete for Golden Dome contracts say they’re already investing in capabilities that could have a range of defense and commercial applications—regardless of whether they’re selected for the Pentagon’s sweeping program to create an advanced homeland missile defense shield.
