The Air Force Gets a New Bag

The Air Force plans to unveil a new mission statement within the next two weeks. The new statement is still under wraps, but we are told it includes a phrase being used lately by new Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne: “deliver sovereign options for the defense of the United States in air, space, and cyberspace.” Sources tell us that the new mission statement is two-pronged: emphasizing unique USAF capabilities and a commitment to joint action.

Space Force leaders have been saying for months that they are uniquely prepared among the services to embrace the Trump administration's acquisition reforms. Now, officials from the Program Executive Office for Battle Management, Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence, or BMC3I, are implementing some of those reforms
