The Pentagon said that Air Force civilian employee Daniel J. Kuhlmeier, 30, of Omaha, Neb., was killed on Feb. 20 when an improvised explosive device struck the convoy in which he was riding in Baghdad. Kuhlmeier was a member of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and assigned to Det. 204, 2nd Field Investigations Region, Offutt AFB, Neb.
The Air Force’s propulsion directorate wants to rapidly develop and field new propulsion technologies in the coming years, and plans to use a new, $16 billion contract vehicle to do so, according to a March 13 notice.
