Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh assigned Maj. Gen. Margaret Woodward, Air Force chief of safety, to be the next director of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office in Air Force headquarters, announced the Pentagon. The announcement came on June 7. Woodward has been safety chief since September 2012; in that role, she’s also been in charge of the Air Force Safety Center at Kirtland AFB, N.M. She led the Air Force’s investigation into the service’s basic training set-up after a rash of sexual misconduct among its military training instructors.
