A B-1B crew from the 96th Bombardment Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, land successfully despite a retracted landing gear in the nose, a first for the B-1B. There were no injuries and only minimal damage to the bomber. The crew receives the 1989 Mackay Trophy.
