A release from Charleston AFB, S.C., states that a survey conducted by the Everett Group during a one-week period, from March into April, shows Americans have a high opinion of the Air Force. Survey results indicate that 79 percent of those polled would recommend Air Force service to a young person. Survey takers associated the Air Force with such terms as technology, skilled, professional, and excellence. They also believe USAF values the well being of its members, possibly more so than the other services. Of the 1,200 adults participating in the survey, 89 percent said they have great confidence in the Air Force.
A new report from the Government Accountability Office calls for the Pentagon’s Chief Technology Officer to have budget certification authority over the military services’ research and development accounts—a move the services say would add a burdensome and unnecessary layer of bureaucracy.
