The Air Force plans to power Nellis AFB, Nev., from a solar energy plant that will provide about 30 percent of the base’s energy needs, according to USA Today. The base will have the “largest solar power plant in North America” when it constructs its 140-acre “photovoltaic array with panels of silicon wafers that will rotate to follow the sun,” reports William Welch. USAF estimates savings of about $1 million per year.
The Space Force should take bold, decisive steps—and soon—to develop the capabilities and architecture needed to support more flexible, dynamic operations in orbit and counter Chinese aggression and technological progress, according to a new report from AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.
