Airmen and marines banded together at the former Clark Air Base in the Philippines to load supplies aboard aircraft to aid survivors of the Feb. 17 massive mudslides that engulfed an entire village on the island of Leyte. More than 40,000 pounds of supplies have been airlifted into Taclabon Airfield on Leyte. Airmen of the 36th Contingency Response Group from Andersen AFB, Guam, helped establish airfield operations.
The Air Force is spending heavily on F-22 improvements through the end of the decade, suggesting it may not retire the jet in 2030 as it previously planned. New sensors, fuel tanks, communications, and electronic warfare systems are among the upgrades that comprise the package.
