The Pentagon announced Sunday that A1C Carl Jerome Ware Jr., 22, of Glassboro, N.J., had died July 1 from a non-combat related cause at Camp Bucca, Iraq. The airman was deployed to Iraq from the 15th Security Forces Squadron, Hickam AFB, Hawaii. The death is under investigation.
Airmen basic rarely go on to become four-star generals, but one who did retired last week after a 42 year career that saw him rise from a lowly slick-sleeve to the head of one of the Air Force’s most important major commands.
