Pentagon Releases Cost of Living, BAH Rates for 2026

The Pentagon will pay cost of living allowances to 127,000 service members in the continental U.S. in 2026, an increase of 66,000 members in 2025. Airmen and Guardians across the U.S. will also receive an average increase of 4.2 percent for their Basic Housing Allowance, compared to the 5.4 percent increase service members averaged in 2025.

Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife landed in New York on Jan. 3 hours after a dramatic U.S. military operation in Caracas that led to their capture. ... President Trump said in a press conference that the U.S. would “run” Venezuela temporarily during the transition, and “get the oil flowing.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio signaled on Jan. 4 the U.S. doesn't plan to directly govern Venezuela, but will continue to enforce an “oil quarantine” as part of a plan to influence policy.
