Air Force, Israeli Military Expand Medical Cooperation

Air Force Surgeon General Lt. Gen. Thomas Travis and his counterpart in the Israeli Defense Force, Brig. Gen. Yitshak Kreiss, signed an agreement to expand cooperation across the Air Force Medical Service and the IDF Medical Corps. “The IDF is a valuable partner, and their work in the field of trauma care has been phenomenal,” and influenced the US military’s trauma care in Afghanistan, said Travis, who signed the terms-of-reference document with Kreiss on Feb. 5 in Israel. The framework agreement will expand cooperation across areas such as aerospace medicine, mental health, training, academics, and medical research, according to a Feb. 14 Air Force release. “I am very excited about the huge potential for collaboration in other areas of training and research, such as critical care evacuation, fatigue management, and aerospace medicine,” said Travis.
