First Red Flag-Alaska Underway

The 64th Aggressor Squadron’s F-16s from Nellis AFB, Nev., have arrived at Eielson AFB, Alaska, to take part in Red Flag-Alaska, marking the first time the Nellis aggressors have participated in the air combat exercise formerly known as Cope Thunder. The Pacific Air Forces version of Red Flag runs until May 5 and will feature joint offensive counter air operations, interdiction, close air support, and large force employment training under simulated combat. PACAF will be using the Pacific Alaskan Range Complex, with both Eielson and Elmendorf Air Force Base participating in air operations. Other participants include Pope AFB, N.C. (A-10); South Dakota Air National Guard (F-16); Luke AFB, Ariz. (F-16C/G); Barksdale AFB, La. (B-52H); and Travis AFB, Calif. (KC-10).
