New Mexico resident and 1977 Air Force Academy graduate Michael Weinstein has offered to drop his religious discrimination lawsuit against the Air Force if it bans proselytizing and evangelism. (DR, 10/07/05) Weinstein has two sons at the academy and, he claims at least one has been verbally attacked. His settlement offer would allow chaplains to minister to those who seek them out, but force them to leave those who don’t alone. The Air Force is examining Weinstein’s offer and will respond “at the appropriate time and by the appropriate means,” Capt. David Small told the Colorado Springs Gazette.
