Moseley had some advice for any Air Force blue-suiter who wants to stay in the service: Look at the career fields that are stretched thin. He said that 13 percent of officer career fields and 20 percent of enlisted fields are short of staff. That means that some members may be able to switch career fields and stay with the Air Force. “Before anyone leaves, I want to make sure we have opportunities to move people into those stretched career fields,” Moseley said.
As Air Force leaders consider concepts of operations for Collaborative Combat Aircraft, sustainment in the field—and easing that support by using standard parts and limiting variants—should be a key consideration, according to a new study from AFA's Mitchell Institute of Aerospace Studies.
