Pacific Air Forces has reopened its air operations center, marking the conclusion of a $37 million renovation. The center required major infrastructure and technology upgrades, said PACAF officials. It is “absolutely critical” for PACAF’s ability to command and control the theaters air and space assets, said the project manager, Maj. Rocky Favorito. The AOC is the execution arm for the new George Kenney Warfighting Headquarters, which is slated to officially stand up in December.
The Air Force has begun flying its CV-22 Ospreys again. But that is just the start of a multi-step process to return the fleet to normal operations following a deadly crash last year, the service says.
