Congress approves the act establishing the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics. NACA is to “supervise and direct the scientific study of flight with a view to [its] practical solution.” The committee, initially given a budget of $5,000, will evolve into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
The Air Force is requesting about $141 million for initial enlistment bonuses in its fiscal 2026 budget, while Space Force wants $13 million.
