Airmen who volunteer for 24-month assignments to Turkey may be eligible for incentive pay, the Air Force announced Friday. The policy applies to airmen assigned to Turkey between Aug. 29, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2018, and the additional pay is $300 per month. Airmen currently assigned to Turkey can also become eligible for the incentive pay within 30 days of arrival if they extend their assignment to a total of 24 months. After 30 days airmen must extend to 24 months past their current Date Eligible to Return from Overseas. In late September, the Air Force announced that all Turkey assignments would be unaccompanied and last no longer than 12 months. Friday’s announcement allows airmen who volunteer to stay in Turkey longer to earn incentive pay.
The Air Force is requesting about $141 million for initial enlistment bonuses in its fiscal 2026 budget, while Space Force wants $13 million.
