Col. Carol Timmons, director of joint forces for the Delaware National Guard, has received the Bronze Star Medal for her meritorious service during a deployment to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, from May to September 2008. She served as deputy commander of the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group, overseeing the activities of nine squadrons and more than 700 airmen who operated aircraft including A-10s, C-130s, F-15Es, and HH-60s. The medal award also recognized her actions while engaged in ground operations against an opposing armed force near Bagram. Timmons joined the Delaware Air National Guard in 1977.
