Bradley Myers, a firefighter with the 99th Civil Engineer Squadron stationed at Creech AFB, Nev., is the Defense Department’s civilian firefighter of the year for 2008. “This award wouldn’t have been possible without my fellow firemen at Creech, my family, and my friends,” said Myers. He said winning the DOD award “came as a huge bonus” on top of also being recognized as the Air Force’s top civilian firefighter of 2008. Among his acts, he saved the lives of two critically injured victims of an automobile accident, administered life-saving skills to a heart attack victim, and helped to save three local homes from a massive fire.
