The Air Force Research Lab sponsored a wargame earlier this month at the Air Force Wargaming Institute on the grounds of Maxwell AFB, Ala., to explore the potential military utility of future technologies and flush out concepts of operation for them. More than 70 individuals participated in the event, including AFRL scientists and representatives from most Air Force major commands and the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. This virtual exercise, held Aug. 10-14, “is a unique wargame that allows for a good deal more creativity,” said Tamara Chelette, chief of AFRL’s strategic planning branch. She added, “That is something we don’t get to do in other wargames we are involved in.” (Maxwell report by Carl Bergquist)
