USAF explosive ordnance disposal technicians helped save a girls school in Afghanistan from two bombs allegedly planted by Taliban forces. Les Neuhaus of Stars and Stripes reports that US and Afghan ground forces found the bombs and called in the EOD team. Some nervy Afghan policemen already had removed the detonators of the homemade bombs with their hands, making the EOD team’s work much easier, in this case, said TSgt. Michael Laskowski. Some 400 girls normally attend the school in eastern Afghanistan.
President Donald Trump on July 4 signed into law $150 billion in defense funds as part of the tax-and-spending package known as the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” after congressional Republicans approved the legislation in narrow, drawn-out votes earlier this week.
