A delegation from the Combined Air Power Transition Force in Afghanistan, led by Afghanistan National Army Air commander Maj. Gen. Mohammed Dawran, has been touring Air Education and Training Command bases to see first-hand just how USAF trains its enlisted force and, in particular, its pilots. The group visited Randolph AFB, Tex., where it stopped at the Airman Leadership School and received a briefing on AETC’s specialized undergraduate pilot training program. Next stop was Laughlin AFB, Tex., for a close up look at SUPT in the field. Dawran said he wants to have a similar program in his country. (Justin Oakes reports on the Randolph visit; Capt. Ken Hall on Laughlin excursion.)
Airmen from the California Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves brushed up on their aerial firefighting skills late last month in preparation for the 2024 wildfire season, which could see fires break out across North America.
