The Air Mobility Warfare Center’s 421st Combat Training Squadron has trained its first 60 security forces airmen in its new Fly Away Security Training course. FAST prepares airmen who are about to deploy with mobility aircraft to Southwest Asia where they will fly in and out of forward bases. Previously, the service lacked a “formal training program” for such “fly away” airmen, according to Capt. Brent Gallant of the 421st CTS at Ft. Dix, N.J. It is similar to the Air Force Raven program, but shorter and less intensive because Ravens provide security for mobility aircraft at worldwide locations.
