Another VA Laptop Stolen:

Veterans Affairs has been sending letters to veterans in the New York area alerting them to the Sept. 6 theft of yet another VA laptop, according to a Nov. 1 statement by Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.). Maloney says the VA “waited almost two months to tell veterans their identities might be at risk.” A copy of the letter posted on Maloney’s Web site is dated Oct. 20. As of Nov. 5, there appears to be no word of the theft on the VA Web site. The letter sent by the VA to “a number of veterans we provide pulmonary care service for at the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System” invites the veterans to partake of free credit monitoring. It also says that the “VA police and VA Inspector General are investigating.”
