The Air Force has awarded an Airman’s Medal to Capt. David Burnett for his actions in June to save the lives of a mother and two small children trapped in their car after a major traffic accident. Burnett, who is commander of the 375th Military Personnel Flight at Scott AFB, Ill., received his award from Air Mobility Command boss Gen. Arthur Lichte.
The U.S. military is maintaining a beefed-up presence in the Middle East, including fighters and air defense assets, following the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities June 22 and subsequent retaliation by the Iranians against Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
