The Air Force now is sending its officer trainees on field trips to help them absorb some of the service’s heritage, specifically the famed World War II Tuskegee Airmen, the Army Air Corps first black aviators. OTs from the Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, Ala., recently visited the Robert Moton Field in Tuskegee, Ala., where they talked with retired Col. R.J. Lewis and saw some of the historic Tuskegee Airmen training and operating areas.
The Air Force is requesting about $141 million for initial enlistment bonuses in its fiscal 2026 budget, while Space Force wants $13 million.
