The Air Force Real Property Agency last week transferred the last 3.5 acre parcel of the former Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Ohio to the Columbus (Ohio) Regional Airports Authority. The Air Force closed Rickenbacker in 1994 as part of the 1991 BRAC decisions. Rickenbacker Airport still supports elements of the Ohio Air National Guard, including the 121st Air Refueling Wing, and other military units.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
