The Russian Air Force has in the works an upgraded A-50 airborne warning and control system aircraft and expects to take delivery in 2008, Gen. Vladimir Mikhailov announced to Russian news agencies Thursday. He said the revamped aircraft would contain new equipment that would sustain the A-50 through another 20 years.
Air Force Gen. Alexus G. Grynkewich assumed command of U.S. European Command on July 1, taking over the key assignment as the U.S. and its allies contend with a resurgent Russia and a grinding war in Ukraine.
