DOD Plans To Note Vulnerability on Pay Statement: Pentagon officials say they will notify active and reserve military members whose personal data may have been compromised by the May 3 theft of Veterans Affairs data by putting a note on individual pay statements. However, as of June 14, DOD was still in the middle of analyzing just which personnel could be affected. The VA estimates the number of active and reserve members could be 2.2 million—or almost everyone. The Air Force is offering to tell its members now.
The U.S. military is maintaining a beefed-up presence in the Middle East, including fighters and air defense assets, following the U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities June 22 and subsequent retaliation by the Iranians against Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
