Zbigniew Brzezinski told reporters in Washington Wednesday that he believes the “severely stretched” US forces fighting the war on terror have done their job well. “In a country of 25 million people with only 130,000 US troops, the military is by and large doing a good job,” said the former national security advisor. Brzezinski also found it remarkable that only about one-third of US troops are serving in a combat role in Iraq.
Army Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, head of U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, warned that Russia would remain an enduring threat to NATO and global security, regardless of the outcome of the war in Ukraine.
