Shaw Now Has Second Flight Recorder: The Navy is turning over to the Air Force a second flight recorder from the F-16 that crashed into the ocean on April 5 during a training mission off the South Carolina coast, according to the Sumter (S.C.) Item. Crews from the USS Grapple recovered the fighter’s ejection seat, which contains the recorder, Lt. Bryan Cox, spokesman for Shaw AFB, S.C., told the paper.
The Air Force is requesting about $141 million for initial enlistment bonuses in its fiscal 2026 budget, while Space Force wants $13 million.
