The US has so far taken the quiet tack of “outsourcing” diplomacy with Iran to Europe and the United Nations—a process that needs to be stopped, states the Wall Street Journal editorial board. WSJ does not advocate giving up on diplomacy, but it urges “being realistic about its limits and clear about alternatives.” Some are urging a “Grand Bargain,” which, WSJ reminds us, is “precisely what Mr. Clinton tried with North Korea in the 1990s.” And, that worked out well, didn’t it? The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
