The Air Force has lauded the 36th Air Expeditionary Wing at Andersen AFB, Guam, with an Outstanding Unit Award. According to Stars and Stripes, the wing commander, Col. Michael Boera, called Andersen’s accomplishments in Fiscal 2005 “unprecendented.” Among the base’s achievements: managing 16 rotations of B-1B, B-2, B-52, KC-135, and F-15E units that flew 3,000 sorties and mapping out one of the service’s largest construction programs. Considering Pentagon plans for Andersen, we doubt things will ease any time soon.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
