The airmen of the 379th Expeditionary Services Squadron recently tackled a small logistical miracle at a forward base in Southwest Asia. Inclement weather delayed several flights from the base to other locations in the AOR, resulting in a sharp increase in transient personnel. And, it was the Air and Space Expeditionary Force swap out time for AEF 7/8 and AEF 9/10. The load busted the base’s lodging capacity by 35 percent. It was just a bump in the road for the 379th airmen. They put up cots in the theater, gym, and an unused dining hall. They also fed the troops 24/7—and not MREs, real, hot food.
Air Force Gen. Alexus G. Grynkewich assumed command of U.S. European Command on July 1, taking over the key assignment as the U.S. and its allies contend with a resurgent Russia and a grinding war in Ukraine.
