The Defense Department has been developing a competence modeling tool, which will guide procurement professionals in doing self-assessments of their skills and training, reports Government Executive. The tool will incorporate the department’s target capabilities, showing how they compare with the existing skill set. This will allow DOD to figure out what areas need to be strengthened and realigned. Shay Assad, director of Defense procurement and acquisition policy, said the Pentagon expects to complete development of the tool in March.
The Air Force is launching an effort to develop a new stand-off missile with a range of 1,000 nautical miles, or 1,150 miles, that would eventually be used for both air-to-air and air-to-surface missions.
