Air Mobility Command has issued contracts totaling more than $2.3 billion to 11 airlines and teams to provide airlift services during Fiscal 2007 under the Air Force’s Civil Reserve Air Fleet program. These 11 CRAF contractors have committed to support DOD when its airlift needs outstrip the Air Force’s organic capability. (Read the list of 2007 CRAF participants here.)
The Air Force plans to conduct more intensive training—and Congress is set to help by boosting funding for exercises and so-called “campaigning” by hundreds of millions of dollars, particularly in the Pacific.
