US Joint Forces Command has gotten approval to connect its Joint Training and Experimentation Network with Australia’s Defence Training and Experimentation Network. A Dec. 21 news release states that the hook-up will enable US and Australian forces to train together in a “live, virtual, and constructive environment.” The first connect opportunity will be Talisman Saber 2007, which will start in May.
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
