Maj. Gen. Ted F. Bowlds has taken command of the Air Force Research Laboratory, headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Gen. Bruce Carlson, head of Air Force Materiel Command, officiated at the ceremony at the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton. Bowlds, who succeeds Maj. Gen. Perry L. Lamy, was the chief acquisition officer at Aeronautical Systems Center and has served in various program management functions, working on the F-117, B-2, and C-17 programs, among others.
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
